Months just slip by at the moment. But not in the "I have been oversleeping everyday and then dealing with the resultant headaches" kind of way I am used to. There has been a lot of work to do.
The catch23 Tournament of Wonders has come and gone. I think it is safe to say that everyone involved was blown away by how well it went. I was. And i got to see some of my favorite improvisers and people in the world. The surprise success was pulling Ehren Salazar out of performance retirement. And seeing Crumbs through their Toronto debut. And Atlanta. And lots of things. Whatever, you should have been there.
So now I am on to all sorts of other things. Really, all sorts.
I have been doing a bit of designy type work. I made some little web pages for some friends (Rose and David) and am now concocting some rather large button-related endeavours with graphic artist to the stars, Emma Segal. This latter item has prompted the revival of the Sweetie Pie Press, my latent small press. Although previously focused on zines and other things nobody cares about, I have decided to broaden the scope of Sweetie Pie Press activities to include more people and more design-orineted work. Why? Because I already owned a domain name, I like the name and Dirt Undersnake, the early creator of the Sweetie Pie movement, told me he had no further plans or use for the name. Thanks, Dirt!
Comedy for the Snobs has passed away, or is at least in stasis. But our last installment, 'Snobs Without Words: A Wordless Cabaret,' was a great success and experiment. It was especially awsome to see the work of Zeesy Powers, a young lady I just met recently. She does sort of interactive video/animation performance art. It's great. You really have to see it in order to have seen it. Also, Ananad Rajaram and Bob Wiseman did an amazing improvised piece that has come out of some experimenting together and Chris 'Hilarious' Gibbs did this 'hilarious' vampire piece that I think is one of the funniest things ever. Sorry, hilariousest. Rest in peace, snobs. We hardly knew ye.
But enough name dropping, let's talk about me more.
At the last minute, it turns out I will have a small summer tour with ruby after all. FLOOD! has been invited to NextFest in Edmonton as well as somehow sneaking into the Toronto Fringe and getting a spot in the Winnipeg Fringe.
Shuffled in with these dates are a few out-of-town performances for IRON COBRA. We will be in Edmonton for Rapid Fire Theatre's Improvaganza at the end of June and are doing one late-night show at the Chicago Improv Festival at the end of April.
And I am continuing to develop my new play at Nightwood Theatre. I love them. Can I say that? I love them.
Anything else? Probably. But who reads this, anyway? Sometimes I think I just write these things to remind myself of how much I need to use my dayplanner.
